In Georgia he was part of an international team at the Dmanisi site, where the oldest hominids in Eurasia were discovered, dating to 1.7 million years ago. He has led paleontological campaigns in Libya and Georgia. He has headed several research projects in Europe on the evolution of land ecosystems during the Neogene and Quaternary and was also co-director of the "Human Settlements in the Guadix-Baza Basin during the Pleistocene" project. ![]() He has published more than 200 articles, the majority of these in international scientific journals. His palaeontology research has focused on the evolution of mammal assemblages over the last 10 million years. ![]() Jordi Agustí is a research professor (ICREA) at the Human Palaeoecology Institute (Rovira i Virgili University-DURSI) and a member of the Royal Academy of Arts and Sciences in Barcelona. ![]()
